POEM - My Hero

I see them from across the room,
they stare into my eyes.
I see their strength and beauty,
they see my fear and cries.
Vulnerable and hopeless,
I reach out for their love.
Desperately trying to save me,
they feel I've had enough.
I'm at the end of my tether,
no longer holding on.
To faith, hope or virtue,
they don't serve me no more.
But wait!
I feel their arms surrounding and
shielding me with joy.
The energy has shifted -
I no longer feel destroyed
By circumstance or failure
or negativity.
My hero has arrived,
conquering my enemies:
Fear, depression, sadness...
We'll throw anger in there too.
They've tried to keep me down
and my vision out of view.
"No more!" my hero says,
"The battle is fought and won!"
"No more of this torment.
Enjoy your life, have fun!"
Following this war,
I peak into the mirror.
"I am my own hero!
I declare myself the winner!"
I now reflect peace,
happiness and love;
Thanks to intervention
from myself and up above.
